Sir: ‘Honor killing’ in our culture is leaving a big impact on our nation, but no one is ready to take any action to solve the issue. As we aware that last year on 15th July, (a year ago) in Multan social media star Qandeel Baloch was strangled to death by her brother in the name of honor killing. Death of Qandeel has proved that in Pakistan if you are a woman with a voice and determination to resist the preconceived notions set by the patriarchy then you will be silenced. If we can remember her as an ‘honour killing’ victim, then why don’t we take timely action when such kind of cruel acts are happening in our surrounding? It is the responsibility of government and public to cooperate with each other to take action against those found guilty of the crime, so killing in the name of ‘honour’ can be eradicated. It is hoped that the concerned authorities will take a serious step to not let the killers of women in the name of “honour” get away with the crime.
