Sir: Ramzan is the month of blessing. Every Muslim around the globe celebrates this month with spiritual devotion. This month is important for several reasonsas it gives us a lesson about how to control our needs. This month also gives an idea that reinforces the significance of charity. Another important message that we learn from this month is to remind the Muslims who are suffering from poverty. Unfortunately, in Pakistan, this month has enlarged lines on people forehead. As soon as Ramzan arrives, the prices of the commodities go up. This is the greatest example of the hypocrisy. We conceitedly call Pakistan the Islamic Republic, but in reality, our actions are totally against it. We are well aware that the problems of the poor, but our society and government hardly play any role to alleviate their problems. In comparison, most of the non-Muslim countries lower the prices of essential good during the month of Ramzan to facilitate the Muslim community. We should be ashamed of ourselves as we create the artificial inflation in Ramzan every year. To reduce all these issues, the private and government sectors should work together to cope up with this situation. HADIA AZIZ Islamabad
