Sir: The recognition of the role of Islamabad police and rangers by the Interior Minister in minimising crime rate and maintaining law and order in the Federal Capital is laudable. As per statistics, crime rate has considerably decreased in the capital, up to 30 percent, during the first four months of the 2016 as compared to the corresponding period of last years. As 24 percent decline has been witnessed in murder incidents, 100 percent in kidnapping for ransom, 56 percent in dacoity incidents, 31 percent in forcible snatching of items and 7 percent in burglary incidents. Likewise, 44 percent reduction in car theft and 61 percent fall in motorbike theft incidents have been recorded. It could only be possible due to dedicated teamwork and honest leadership. The Interior Minister is right in advising the young police officers to be honest to their duties and avoid the path of corrupt practices. That is the only way to success as a human being and police officer. In our all national institutions, the performance of officers can be optimised only if rules and regulations are followed and they are allowed to work independently within the ambit of the constitution.
