SWABI: A folk singer was shot dead by two unidentified motorcyclists on Saturday at Zareen Abad village in Kotha Union Council in the jurisdiction of City Police Station, Topi, police sources said.
A local folk singer Darvaish Khan was at his home when someone knocked at the door. Darvaish Khan received two motorcyclists at his door, who sprayed bullets over him as soon as he stepped out of the door. Darvaish Khan was killed on the spot as the attackers fled the scene. No immediate cause behind the killing was found however the locals claimed that the attack by unknown persons indicated that it was some militant group who was against music and singers.
On the other hand, the police claimed that Darvaish Khan had two wives and the incident was probably caused by a dispute between the two women.
Meanwhile a policeman was drowned in the Gohati Canal here on Saturday, said police. The constable was not on duty at the incident took place.
Eyewitnesses claimed that constable Sabaz Ali Khan of Gohati was trying to learn how to ride a motorcycle and he failed to control the bike which slid into a deep section of water. Body of the deceased constable was later recovered.
