PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Sports and Culture Department has allocated Rs 74 million for 15 different regional games aim to shine locale talent for international games. The officials of the department claimed, chain of projects are underway in the province to provide suitable environment for regional talent to come forward and represent its country in international events. According to a handout issued by the Sports and Culture Department of KP here on Saturday claimed, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) digging-hard to create better opportunities for setting up new sports venues in every tehsil of the province and spending unprecedented funds for the purpose. The present government as per the detail of the handout had completed the construction of 25 sports grounds and additionally work on other 33 grounds at regional level is in progress. Under the initiative, a total of 75 grounds will be constructed which will provide tremendous help for promoting recreational and healthy activities in the province and can be helpful to raise the tide of sportsman ship individual among the society. The present government has invested a significant amount for reforming the sports and culture sector in order to give positive and healthy direction to youth and acknowledge their talent and skills. The move of the government has committed to make influx of the talented youth who will earn name and respect for the country in international games being held around the globe. One of the significant projects the press release mention the accomplishment of International standard hockey turf at Mardan Sports Complex project with cost of Rs 67.69 million. “The ground will not only help in promoting the national sport but will also provide the talented youth of the province to realize their maximum potential” the handout read. Moreover, Sports Kits worth 10 million were distributed among players of different games for promoting healthy and recreational activities in the province. The statement said that the SOPs have been sent to every district for implementation. A different set of SOPs have also been formulated for promotion and selection of talented players in order to abolish favoritism and provide opportunities to talented youth. Additionally, preparations have been completed for conducting KP Under 23 games in the province. 5000, male and female, players have been enlisted for different games the statement read. As per details, players will compete in 15 different games in their respective divisional headquarters after which inter divisional games will be held in the provincial capital, Peshawar. Furthermore, the previous government had approved the construction of Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex but its construction was delayed. However, the present government took the task to completion and ensured its completion in two years’ time. The Sports Complex is the larger of its kind second only to Qayyum Sports Complex in Peshawar. Management committees have also been formed for maintenance and look after of the completed grounds. Another important project, the handout mention is that the department has constructed shopping plaza at Qayyum Sports Complex costing Rs 80.5 million. This project will help in generating revenue which will be utilized for promotion of sports and games in the province the statement read.
