
PESHAWAR: The chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak, has directed to ensure timely completion of the construction work, evergreen plantation, the walk in the aviary, Butterfly Park, carnivores and other allied facilities at the Peshawar Zoo.
This, he directed during an inspection visit to the site of the under construction zoo. The chief minister on arrival at the site was given a detailed briefing on the pace of work at Peshawar zoo and the progress made so far.
He was also informed about the required steps by the district administration including the sewerage system, the land acquisition and the additional funding. He was also informed about the transmission line, the connectivity of the zoo with the electricity by WAPDA etc. Ishtiaq Urmar, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Environment, other high ranking officials of the department and district administration was also present at the occasion.
The chief minister directed to put the entire plan of the zoo on a fast track and complete it as expeditiously as early as possible. He also directed to expedite the sewerage line completion and contact the WAPDA authorities for an early transmission line and its connectivity to the zoo.
Pervez Khattak assured an additional grant of Rs.200 million for the completion of the existing and additional facilities at the zoo. He also directed the district administration for foolproof security to the zoo. He wished that the premises of the Zoo should have evergreen plants and the department should do it on a fast track. He also directed for quality in all work at the zoo. The zoo would be on 23 acres of land with an additional cycling track andallied facilities.
The CM said his government wanted reasonable entertainment facilities for the people of Peshawar and its surroundings. The zoo would be an entertaining facility for the people who would come and enjoy there. He assured that the government would provide everything and stressed that all the facilities at the zoo should be of standard.
The CM also had an inspection visit of different areas of the zoo and directed for quality infrastructure there.
