PESHAWAR: Free medical treatment services under Social Health Protection Scheme (Sihat Insaf Card) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government have formally been launched in the autonomous Medical Teaching Hospital Institutions (MTIs) of the Province including Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH), Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) and Ayub Teaching Hospital (AMC). Within two initials days of the launching of the service in MTIs, twenty two patients have been admitted in these hospitals in all and provided free medi-care. According to details, nine patients have been admitted in LRH, seven in KTH and Six in AMC. Though the service has been launched in HMC as well but so far no patients has been admitted there. Majority of the patients/cases admitted in these three tertiary care hospitals are related to Orthopedic, Neurology, Urology, Gynecology and ENT. Two separate desks/counters have been set up in each of these hospitals to facilitate and guide the visiting card holders. It merits to mention here that taking serious notice of delay in launching free treatment service in MTIs, the Provincial Senior Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai had convened an emergency meeting of the concerned quarters the other day and issued directives to immediately start the service in these hospitals. Free treatment service under Sihat Insaf Card has already been started in other designated private and public sector hospitals of the province. Video conferencing: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Atif Khan has formally launched video conference in Peshawar on Monday by conducting live meeting with all EDOs of the Province. He, on this occasion, announced to hold Video Conference Meetings with EDOs in future to take them on Board on Education related issues. The meeting besides others was also attended by Secretary Education Dr Shahzad Bangash, Special Secretary Qaisar Alam and Director Schools Rafiq Khattak. The Minister was briefed in detailed regarding provision of missing facilities in Govt: Schools, Furniture Project, 3rd phase of IT Labs, Establishment of 1st Girls Cadet College, Establishment of play areas in Govt: Primary schools, provision of sports facilities in BISEs, standardization of schools and introduction of Inspectorate Systems and certain decision were taken in this respect. The Minister was informed that supply of furniture was in process to the Govt; schools of entire province under the furniture project, which will be completed by end of current academic year. Similarly 1st IT lab of 3rd phase was ready for inauguration. He was further informed that formal classes will be started in the Girls Cadet College in the next academic year. The Minister was told that 2583 play areas in Primary Schools have been completed and 5000 more were planned, out of which 2500 would be completed by 30th April, 2017. Under standardization of schools project, 200 each were being established by C&W and IMS respectively adding that C&W has so far approved 72 schools out of which physical work on 64 has already been started while remaining would also be started soon and the IMC has completed 18 schools out of 69 and hundred over the same to education department. The minister was assured that schools of standardization project would be completed by April, 2018 accordingly. The Minister in his brief speech strictly directed the authorities concerned to speed up work on educational reforms initiative and ensure timely completion of Public Welfare Projects. He further directed to prepare SNEs of all those schools, 75% work on which has been completed so as to start classes in these schools well in time and save the precious time of the children.
