PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department and Expanded Programme of Immunization (EPI) has provided Android phones to health vaccinators to strengthen and monitor the routine immunisation campaign and other childhood diseases in the province. Around 1600 Android mobile phone were handed over to 1400 health vaccinators including supervisors to monitor the routine immunisation in the province. Talking to Daily Times, Health Secretary Abid Majeed said that the new technology would help strengthen routine immunisation, including polio and other childhood diseases. “The field staff could be asked to send images from their areas of activity and they will also be monitoring the campaign,” Majeed added. He further said that soon, all the vaccinators would be trained in the use of the new software. The secretary said that the electronic vaccination is exclusively meant to scale up immunisation for all nine childhood diseases.
