MARDAN: The Superintendent Police (SP) Operation Abdul Rauf Babar has said that without applicable mechanism of accountability the reforms made in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police could not bear fruit for long term out comes. He was speaking to the participants during a public forum on KP police reforms at Mardan Press Club on Thursday, the forum was part of the project Ulasi Police an awareness and advocacy campaign of the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS). SSP Operation said that reformation process at the government department aimed to to achieve long term result and gain advantage over the frail security situation of the province but without exercising the act of accountability and proper follow up could spoil the reforms agenda. He said that present government has enforced two kinds of reforms at the police force one in the structure and other in functional areas which has provided great inputs in the field of operational activities. The structural reforms meant to introduce of in-service training to provide sold ground to professionals of the department and capacity building of the police force in the province. The expanding horizon of the force to invest its energy on facilitating common citizen by dispensing services in a comfortable environment was an additional focus of the program. Speaking at the function Mushtaq Seemab, Tehsil Niab Nazim said that current drove of reforms have strengthened police and public bonds of relation and trust worthy relation could be used for eradication crimes from the society. He said that government of the province making outstanding journey towards a successful destination where police and public will cooperate with each other only to secure its respected citizen. Merit base induction and recruitments of the police in the province will have long lasted impact on the province and in future the department will play pivotal role in curbing the menace of corruption from the society, he added. Ulasi Police an awareness and advocacy campaign of the CRSS as part of USAID Small Grants and Ambassadors’ Fund Program, to strengthen the rule of law in KP by implementing police reforms in its true spirit.
