RAWALPINDI: The Local government (LG) by-elections in two union councils (UCs) for electing chairman, vice chairman and in five wards for general councilors in the district is going to be held today (Wednesday). According to the District Returning Officer (DRO) Javaid Khan Afridi, polling will begin at 7:30 am and continue till 5 pm without any interval in 29 polling stations set up in the constituencies. Re-polling in Municipal Corporation union council no16 and district council no 98 for the post of chairman and vice chairman would be held today. Meanwhile, union council UC- 45 ward no 6, UC-18 ward no 1, UC-52 ward no 3 and UC-102 ward no 5 in the district council while Municipal Corporation UC-14 ward no 5 would re-elect their general councilors. Afridi told that polling was postponed due to the death of candidates on December 5. Meanwhile, the district police have formulated a foolproof security plan to maintain peace and harmony during the local government by-elections. According to police spokesman, 500 officials would be deployed in two union councils and five wards of the district to maintain law and order and to avert any untoward
