ISLAMABAD: International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) and Belarus universities have vowed to have mutual cooperation in the field of education through MoUs and by preparing a roadmap for exchange of faculty and launching of joint programmes. This was decided on the occasion of a visit of Belarus’ delegation of academics, which visited IIUI to explore opportunities for the bilateral collaboration and cooperation in the field of education, said a news release on Wednesday. Belarus Education Ministry first Deputy Vadim Bogush led a nine-member delegation comprising vice-chancellors of different universities of Belarus. During the delegation’s meeting with IIUI leadership, it was agreed to expand mutual ties for joint ventures such as establishment of Arabic Language Centre with the help of IIUI, launch of sports sciences programmes with bilateral cooperation. Both the sides also agreed to soon have MoUs in terms of practically taking initiatives for discussed projects. Head of delegation Vadim Bogush said, “Knowledge is the most vital source of societal development and we are keen to explore opportunities of staff training, cultural exchanges and languages with IIUI”. Dr Masoom Yasinzai during his speech in the ceremony held in honour of the delegation said that academics can play pivotal role in the solution of core issues such as terrorism, and IIUI is doing same by producing harmonious scholars with balanced approach and blend of Islamic teachings. He said that the educated youth is indispensable for a prosperous and vibrant society and IIUI would keep playing its role to nurture young minds according to contemporary requirements in the light of Islamic teachings. IIUI President Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh informed the delegation about the institutes, academies, centres and faculties of the IIUI and also told about the international students at the university. On the occasion, he said that IIUI is keen to disseminate Islam’s message of peace and it has been playing a meaningful role in this regard by arranging international conferences, seminars and discussions. He also informed about the university’s MoUs with educational institutions of the world while reiterating his resolve that university is keen to have mutual cooperation with all the varsities of globe.
