ISLAMABAD: Massive corruption has been exposed in the Pakistan Postal Services. The documents which Daily Times got, reveal that the postal officers have ‘accomplished’ Rs 260 million worth of corruptions in guise of dispatching mails and also carried out mega corruption in the distribution of the Benazir Income Support Programme’s (BISP) funds among deserving persons. The documents said that the Post Master Generals deputed at Karachi, Islamabad, Multan and Peshawar have allegedly awarded the contracts of dispatching mails to their blue eyed companies and in return they handsomely share from the profit of these companies. The postal officials have allegedly embezzled Rs. 250 million which had been issued for improving postal service across the country while the officials have allegedly distributed Rs. 200 million among themselves as “incentive and honorarium”, whereas Rs. 200 million were also distributed among favorite contractors on account of distribution of dak. The finance ministry has issued Rs. 550 million to renovate postal colonies located in different parts of the country .Furthermore the Secretary Postal Services has also consumed Rs. 93 million from funds allocated for other projects. The postal officials in Karachi, Kohat, Lahore, Hyderabad, and Khairpur have illegally guzzled Rs. 90 million of the BISP fund also.
