ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Mayor Shaikh Anser Aziz said on Tuesday that the sale of unhygienic and adulterated food would not be tolerated. He was chairing a fortnightly review meeting of the Directorate of Health Services. Senior officers of the MCI attended the meeting. “The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) will play its role in provision of healthy, hygienic and pure food to the residents of the city. Both the government and the public have to work together in order to eradicate this problem. A comprehensive and sustained campaign is required to defeat these anti social criminal elements,” he said. The meeting was informed that teams of Health Services Directorate were checking food outlets in the city to ensure provision of quality edibles to the people. The meeting was also informed that during July, these teams had inspected 100 sites and challaned 28 people and issued 45 notices to the violators of the PPF Ordinance 1960. Moreover, substandard food items were also confiscated and destroyed. A total of 13 food samples were also sent to laboratory for further examination. Published in Daily Times, August 2nd , 2017.
