KARACHI: Industrialists have been recommended to take advantage from available online Big Data, which may help their companies to make better business decisions and analysis of the problems faced by their industry. Big Data Analytics’ Shoaibur Rehman addressed a seminar on Importance of Big Data at Mohammad Ali Jinnah University and urged industrialists to make use of online Big Data for their companies. He mentioned that the huge amount of data is generated daily from various sources such as social media, sensor data, click-stream and log. He added, “Every day, they create 2.5 quintillion bytes of data and data store grow is 4x fast then world economy. Every minute there are 216,000 Instagram posts, 204,000,000 emails sent and 277,000 tweets are done.” Rehman informed that Big Data analytics is a buzz-world these days as devices, hand-gadgets, web mobile applications, all are generating such huge amount of data that it’s inevitable for organizations to feel that, certainly, some information can be generated from the extreme volume of this bit. “There is a lot of many tools available, and as the trend is getting mature, even more stable and mature products are making their way in market to solve this Big Data problem,” he stated. Shoaib suggested that Pakistan Big Data may be utilized in capital market, telecommunication, financial industry, pharmaceutical, insurance, education sector, homeland services, social security and retail business comfortably. He revealed his satisfaction that many organizations spending more money on big data which result in cost saving increased revenue using information generated from huge amount of data. Focusing on job opportunities for data scientists, he mentioned that as per a study report 490,000 data scientists will have required by 2018 only in USA. He claimed that but on the other hand only 200,000 data scientists are available there.
