COLOMBO: Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan arrived in Sri Lanka on Thursday to open the ‘Pakistan Single Country Exhibition 2016’ being held in the Sri Lankan capital. Khurram Dastgir Khan will be formally inaugurating the exhibition in Colombo’s Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) today (Friday) along with the senior ministers of the Sri Lankan Government. The exhibition will remain open from January 15 to 17 with free entrance for general public. The Trade and Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is organising the exhibition in collaboration with the High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka. Earlier this month, during his visit to Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe announced the Pakistan Single Country Exhibition 2016 in an impressive ceremony held at Temple Trees on January 5. Pakistan Single Country Exhibition 2016 is a high-level expo featuring leading Pakistani organisations and manufacturers of engineering products, auto parts, agro products, textile and clothing, designer wear, handicraft and traditional textiles, cosmetics and herbal products, pharmaceutical, cutlery, gems and jewellery, furniture, carpets, marble and services. The objective of holding the exhibition is to boost the long- standing commercial ties between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and inviting businesses from the two friendly countries to tap into the growth potential of each other’s economies and leading economies to which they enjoy preferential trade access. To coincide with the Pakistani Single Country Exhibition, a Pakistan food festival is also being organised to present the best of Pakistan’s rich cuisine in Sri Lanka. Pakistan Food Festival was formally inaugurated last evening by High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka Maj Gen (r) Syed Shakeel Hussain and Sri Lanka’s Internal Affairs Minister Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs Minister S B Navinna. Pakistan Food Festival will continue from January 13 to 17 at the Galadari Hotel’s Coffee Shop restaurant from 7pm to 11pm. Pakistan’s celebrity Chef Mehboob Khan will be taking center stage during the spectacular food festivity. Known for his tasty cuisines, Chef Mehboob is a television personality and a cooking expert. He is famously known for his cooking shows ‘Zauq Zindagi’ and ‘Good Healthy Life’. He is also the author of the cookbook ‘Food for Life’ which garnered him great attention as a health-food expert. Currently, he is also serving as a Judge in the world-renowned cooking competition Master Chef Pakistan.
