Political links a must to get admission to capital schools

Published on: June 12, 2016 7:00 PM

ISLAMABAD: Massive irregularities have emerged during the admission of students to major school and colleges of the capital. Due to political interference during admission intelligent students have been deprived of their right to be admitted to schools on merit.

The students whose parents have enjoyed political backing have succeeded in getting admission to schools and colleges as only those students who are relatives or known to political leaders have been admitted to the schools.

State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Tariq Fazal Chaudhry ‘s unnecessary interference in the affairs of the federal education department has put the future of brilliants student at stakes as they could not get admission on merit, an aggrieved student Aslam told Daily Times.

State Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry had set up an admission cell to keep an eye onthe admission process in schools and colleges but this cell has now been turned dysfunctional due to the minister’s interfering in the admission process.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif vowed to observe a merit policy in all government departments but the CADD minister has foiled his claim by interfering in all public departments. The federal directorate of education (FDE) is an example where the state minister CADD brought its affair to the lowest point by bullying and threatening the subordinate officers. An aggrieved student from the capital said that his admission to school was denied because he did not have any political support. According to a source the students residing in Sector G-7 were admitted to the college which is situated in sector I-9 which is a sheer violation of the merit policy. The source said that thousands of students who submitted applications for admission have been denied and their future has been put at stake.

Well established sources said that the recommendation letter of State Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry was being used in the admission process as he had directed all officers to adhere to his orders otherwise their position would be changed. The bitter clashes between the Director College and principals of schools is no secret which has put the affairs of the FDE in doldrums as both the officers are fighting for their personal gains and allegedly hatching conspiracies against each other. Tariq Fazal Chaudhy was assigned the charge of CADD to put the affairs of this politically stricken division on the right path but he has miserable failed to rectify it.

While talking to Daily Times, local MNA Asad Umer said that state minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhy had failed to deliver any service to the people of the capital. The performance of Tariq Fazal was miserable and unsatisfactory as the capital had been handed over to corrupt officials.
