ISLAMABAD: The government has called Senate and National Assembly sessions on Monday, aiming to pass some bills regarding financial matters and civil courts while the government decided to summon a joint session of the parliament as well in October. Parliamentary sources told Daily Times that the bill against honour killing rape would be presented in a joint session of the Parliament for approval as government has succeeded in resolving the differences of some religious parties, especially JUI-F, on these bills.
The government has decided to push for the harshest punishment for those criminals who are involved in honour killing and rape cases. The state will fight such cases if no one comes forward, sources said. The government aims to pass bills regarding bainami accounts, civil courts, Islamabad High Court, companies’ ordinance and some other bills from the national assembly and senate.
National assembly session will begin on 26 September and continue till 7 October while the senate session will continue for ten days. It is expected that the prime minister will take the parliament into confidence regarding his visit and address at the United Nations General assembly. The PTI will raise the Panama Papers issue again in the parliament while current security and border situation would be discussed in the assembly as well, sources maintained.
