ANF seizes 9.895 tonnes of drug, arrests 32 including 4 women

ISLAMABAD: ANF on Wednesday seized drugs weighing 9.895 tonnes worth Rs 14.356 billion in the international market. 27 operations were conducted at Quetta, Chaghi, Qilla Abdulla, Islamabad, Gilgit, Lahore, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Peshawar, Nowshehra, Haripur, Hyderabad, Shikarpur & Sukkur.

The seized drugs comprised of 1.3 tonnes of morphine, 7.5 tonnes of Hashish, 1.2 tonnes of heroin, 4.6 Kg opium, 1.48 kg amphetamine and 60 grammes of cocaine. The operations also resulted in the arrest of 32 persons including 4 women.

ANF Quetta recovered 1240 kg of morphine from General Area Killi Zaran Chaghi. The drug consignment was placed for handing over to some other narcotics gang and was intended to be shifted to some safe location. In the second operation, ANF Quetta recovered 1180 kg Heroin from General Area Killi Shekhaan, Karezat, Pishin stored in the form of 53 cartons, with each carton weighing about 22 Kg. In the third operation, ANF Quetta recovered 3 kg hashish from secret cavities of a Dumper Truck near Kuchlak City.

2 persons namely Watan Khan and Manzoor Alam were arrested at the spot. In the fourth operation, ANF Quetta recovered 96 bags weighing 5,784 kg hashish (each bag weighing 62 kg) from General Area Killi Nouruk, Tehsil & District Qilla Abdullah.

The drug consignment was placed for handing over to some other narcotics gang and was intended to be shifted to some safe location for smuggling to an unidentified destination.

ANF Rawalpindi arrested an accused resident of Mardan at Benazir International Airport, Islamabad, travelling to Saudi Arabia (Riyadh) via Shaheen Airlines Flight No. NL-729 and recovered 1.480 Kg Amphetamine in his trolley bag. In the second operation, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 500 grammes of hashish from the personal possession of an accused resident of Gilgit at Jagir Baseen, Verzal Petrol Pump, Gilgit.

In the third operation, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 1.1 Kg Hashish from personal possession of a resident of Gilgit at Diding Das Suzuki Stand, Danyor, Gilgit.

In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a Zambian woman at Benazir International Airport, Islamabad, who arrived from Abid Jan by Turkish Airlines Flight No. TK-310 and recovered 60 grammes of cocaine from her personal possession.

ANF Karachi recovered 2 kg hashish from the personal possession of one Abdul Rasheed, resident of Shikarpur near Sabzi Mandi, Shikarpur Raod, Sukkur. In another operation, ANF Karachi recovered 4.5 kg hashish from the personal possession of an accused, namely Jan Muhammad resident of Hyderabad, near Shell Petrol Pump.
