To Kill a Mockingbird has the power to end racism

Published on: July 4, 2019 1:03 AM

To Kill A Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee is truly amazing. Harper Lee was famous for this bestseller of hers. It was originally published in 1960. And the first year of its publication, it was translated into 10 languages and more than 30 million copies were sold and now it has been translated into more than 40 languages.

The book has the power to change the mind of racist people. This book discusses about racism and don’t judge a person by the cover and by the first look. This book takes place in America village where an honest lawyer named Atticus Finch lived with his children Jam Finch Scout Finch. After the death of Atticus Finch, his wife took the responsibilities of his children. He was a great and lovely father of his children. He used to told his children that don’t judge a person by her or his first look because time it that thing which can make a person into bad and a bad person to good. The children of Atticus never understood what their father wanted to convey them.

However, Atticus’s children were afraid of their neighbour. When Jam Finch and Scout Finch used to play in the garden with their friends, they ran away every time that man came as he looked quite strange to them. They thought maybe he was a cruel person. They had the perception of him beating kids and eating dogs and cats. But by the time they realized that three three were wrong about the man. The man was a helpful person for them and others. He loved the children but due to the face of him or rather the cover of him every one made wrong concept about him.

On the other side, the book also discusses about racism, the black people had suffered from from a lot difficulties. The writer Harper Lee highlighted racism as well. However the lawyer Atticus gave a shooting gun to his children and he told them whatever they wanted to do but did not kill a mocking bird. Their father also advised that mocking bird just only and only produce music and they didn’t harm other things and they were not allowed to kill them. After a short time the honest lawyer Atticus got a case of a black man who was blamed that he did something bad with white woman. When the lawyer got the case he knew that he will lose it because of racism. But he tried his best to win the case. When he took the case of black man he was frustrated by American society even though many time he got veering by the white people taking the side of black man. The Atticus himself belonged to white people due to the case his children faced many problems as well. Their family was criticized by the society but the lawyer never give up. When the case got started they faced a lot of hurdles. The all people took the side of white woman and the black man lost the case and he was punished by the government without any reason. The lawyer his children were too much disappointed because an innocent person was punished by the government and the due to racism.

Simply this book to kill a mocking bird means to kill or punish the innocent persons. The writer wanted to understand us about racism because of which many people are getting injustice in the world. It is such kind of a book which everyone like to read the most.

Even though, To Kill a Mockingbird was published in the 20th Century, the premise of it hasn’t changed much in the 21st Century. No one has the right to punish the innocent. It’s a book for people of all ages.

The writer is a student
