HomeNet organizes free medical camp for underprivileged

HomeNet organized a free medical camp here at village Haji Ismail Agheem in Thatta District. The camp was organized at the extreme underprivileged area in collaboration with Al-Khidmat Organization and HIGH-Q Pharma. A highly experienced and brilliant team of doctors participated in the camp and contributed their services to improve the health of home-based women workers. Free test of diabetes and calcium deficiency as well as blood pressure checkup was also conducted. Besides. free medicines were provided to the poor and needy patients. Not only home-based working women but all the family members of village-households visited the camp and got benefits of free health services. About 180 patients were examined for different diseases by the team of specialist doctors.

HomeNet Pakistan is a network of organization formed to raise awareness about the economic, social, domestic and other working conditions of home-based women workers who comprise 70% of the informal workforce contributing towards the country’s economic activities. HomeNet Pakistan has been working for giving a reorganization and support to the home-based workers since 2005. Formed under the Society Registration Act 1860, HomeNet Pakistan is a member of HomeNet South Asia; Ethical trade initiative and local resource network. With the support of ‘UN Women’ HomeNet Pakistan is sincerely working for the larger interest of working women based at their homes.

Member of Provisional Assembly Sindh, Dr. Imran Ali Shah attended the camp as the chief guest and encouraged the entire team of HomeNet Pakistan to work continuously for the betterment of home-based women workers. On behalf of HomeNet Pakistan, Dr. Shah distributed Health Insurance Cards among the women. He also felt essential to set-up a free medical dispensary at the deprived village.
