Taking cues from the past

Published on: February 26, 2019 4:55 AM

History is recalled taking cues from what is written about the past. We learn so much about personalities that once existed, good or bad. When people share experiences about the past, it’s adds to our knowledge what no book can.

Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is one such personality who we fondly read about in history books. I believe, people who like to read about history are the most knowledgeable. I know many people who are uneducated and illiterate but are still knowledgeable. This is only because of their curiosity to know about the past. Historians for me are the most useful people as they can impart on us what no one can and for me, the most effective historian is one who can make us visualise incidents quite vividly only by oral narration.

As I mentioned before, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has been written about a great deal. That’s why, we know so much about him and are able to follow him. He was a simple man. Reading history makes us ponder over incidents and occurring of the past. Also our Pakistan’s personalities were brilliant. They thought about their country people like Abdul Sattar Edhi, Zulfikhar Ali Bhutto, and many more. It is important to study history that one must learn about past human beings manners that is relevant to the intellectual growth and development of an individual. Studying the events of the past gives us an understanding of how the world came to be, not only in your world, but around the world, including all human cultures and nature itself. By learning about the causes and effects of events in history. It is showing that how history is helping us. A book can guide us, and educate us, but history can change our lives when we understand it. In the world there are many people with their other activities whether they are good or bad. We can judge bad activities due to history that other personalities did.

There are five ways to study history. History can tell us about ourselves that who are we. There were many personalities who were having different goodnesses, such as honesty, modesty, truth worthy, and many more goodnesses. We can judge ourselves in the history that how good or bad we are.

Reading about how certain things shaped up for others owing to decisions they made helps us learn from their mistakes and become better persons.

In that paragraph I explained how can we change ourselves just due to history. The third and final way is that history makes us a better student. History helps students to know where we come from, how the past has shaped us, and how we can shape the future. The next is that history helps us to learn world events. It is true that a person cannot know much knowledge about other countries except their counties, then the best way is to study history you can get much knowledge. In conclusion, I want to say that if you want knowledge about other countries or change yourself then you have to study history. And you have to learn history and build a bright future. As Boris Becker quoted “I can’t change history, I don’t want to change history. I can only change the future. I’m working on that.”
