The name Azam Swati is synonymous to the word shame

November 2, 2018 by Asif Mahsud

On October 29, a cow of a tribal family entered the illegally encroached land of Azam Swati and as a result the cow was detained, and the tribal family was harassed in their home. Being tribal the family defended themselves against the gun packed guards of state minister Azam Swati. It is utterly shameful to say that the latter’s guards were beaten by the weaponless tribal family. According to some reports the magazine of the guards were snatched and then handed over to the police on their arrival. The police then arrested the whole tribal family, on the instructions of state minister Azam Swati’s son.

Truly, one can’t expect it from a true Pashtun to trespass the boundaries of someone’s home as even in the gravest of conflicts; a Pashtun refrain from targeting women or children of the opponent. Here Azam Swati proved his counterfeit linings to Pashtun decedents and the substandard fabric of which he has been made of. He did what even the shameless of the shameless would not chose to do. However, he put to shame all the dishonoured ones by this shoddy act.

This case has shed light on other issues like the encroachment of the land by the very government official, who don’t get tired of claiming their achievements; regarding freeing land worth billions of rupees from the clutches of land Mafia. But see what their, own party member is doing. As Swati admitted to — before a reporter, Qasim Abbas, of the Jang newspaper — occupying around 6 kanals of land.

Ultimately, the incumbent government should pay heed to this case and ensure justice to the poor tribal family. As this disgrace would definitely deprive them of their life long respect which is the only earning of a poor in his entire life

Additionally, the shallow chants of equal rule of law has been smoked into the air, after the transfer of the IG Islamabad for not working according to the will of a state minister; Azam Swati. On top of it the Information Minister, baked the unbaked, by confirming that basically Imran khan himself transferred the IG by using his Prime Ministerial powers. It helped in dissipating all the suspicions regarding the case. It became clear who called the shots, when it comes to transferring the top notch officers.

Coming back to the case of Azam Swati’s atrocious treatment of a poor tribal family, this case watered down all the efforts of IK and his team in order to win the confidence of masses. If the representatives of the incumbent government would behave so recklessly and roguishly then what example does would set for others? How it can convince its political opponents of any transparency in the cases initiated against them? How will it win the hearts and minds of the general public with such opprobrious show of character?

Ultimately, the incumbent government should pay heed to this case and ensure justice to the poor tribal family. As this disgrace would definitely deprive them of their life long respect which is the only earning of a poor in his entire life. If appropriate action has not been taken then things could go from bad to worse. As tribal people reluctantly, forget atrocity caused to them by others. It could lead to enmity if not dealt justly.
