The supporters of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) took to the streets across major cities of Pakistan on Wednesday after Supreme Court (SC) acquitted Aasia Bibi, a Christian woman sentenced to death over blasphemy allegations.

Protests are currently being staged in several parts of the country including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Peshawar. According to details, various roads have been blocked by the protesters including the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway and GT Road, media reported.
The Section 144 has been imposed by the Punjab Home Department which prohibit the gathering of more than four persons in an public area. It has been imposed across the province from October 31 to November 10.

Moreover, TLP leadership has gathered in protest against SC verdict on Aasia Bibi’s case at Charing Cross, Lahore. In Peshawar, protests are being staged at the Ring Road, GT Road, Jamil Chowk, and outside the Peshawar Press Club.
Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat said via his Twitter account that Bara Kahu, Tarnol, and Kashmir Highway were open for traffic while Aabpara chowk and Faizabad areas were blocked. Moreover, Islamabad to Motorway was also opened.

Section 144 imposed in Punjab, Sindh
Punjab and Sindh governments imposed Section 144 from October 31 to November 10 in the respective provinces in light of ‘constant threats and possible terrorist activites’.
Carrying arms, gathering of more than four persons, pillion riding, and taking out rallies are some of the acts prohibited under Section 144.
