Nawaz Sharif shifted to Adiala jail as health improves

Published on: July 31, 2018 4:55 PM

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has been shifted to the Adiala jail amid tight security as his health condition improved on Tuesday.

Earlier, Punjab Home Minister Shaukat Javed said there are no complications in former prime minister’s health condition.

Nawaz’s medical report doesn’t suggest any treatment abroad, said the minister.

The medical reports said the health condition of the former prime minister is ‘improving’ and there is ‘no further chest pain or pain in the arms’.

However, the medical reports say he has scars on his left leg and mid chest.

The medical team will examine Nawaz again tomorrow.

The former prime minister was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) after his health deteriorated in Adiala jail on Sunday.

Earlier, medics conducted a check-up of the former premier after he complained of chest pain and advised that he be shifted to a coronary care unit (CCU) immediately, sources said.

Imran wishes Nawaz a speedy recovery

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has prayed for the speedy recovery of ailing Nawaz.

In 2013, when the PTI chairman fell from a stage during a public gathering in Lahore, Nawaz had visited him in hospital.

Jailed for corruption

The former prime minister and his daughter Maryam Nawaz were arrested upon their arrival at the Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore following the accountability court’s verdict in the Avenfield property reference that sentenced them into jail for corruption.
