Celebrities share pictures of their inked thumbs, urge citizens to vote

Published on: July 26, 2018 12:37 AM

After voting in the general elections held yesterday, celebrities took to Twitter and Instagram to share their pictures and urged their fans to get out and vote.

Many celebrities from the Pakistan television also came under fire as they are headed to Toronto, Canada, for the 6th Hum Awards, which are scheduled to be held on July 28. However, many vowed to leave the country after casting their vote.

‘Bachana’ singer Bilal Khan shared on Twitter that he’s arrived in his hometown Lahore to vote in the election. He added that he will then immediately return to Toronto, where he’s currently living, to participate in the award show that stole all the celebs away.”It would have made more sense for me to stay (in Toronto) but I came back,” he wrote on Twitter. “The reason I tell you all this is that I want you ALL to vote.” Each vote counts and it is our duty as citizens to vote. It is cool to vote…” he urged his followers.

Actor Mawra Hocane tweeted, “Voted.#AbsirfImranKhan#BallaypeNishan#PakistanElections2018. P.s a sweet quick trip to my home town reminded me just how Beautiful Islamabad is. looking forward to an even more beautiful Future #NayaPakistan@ImranKhanPTI @PTIofficial.”

Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi stated “#ElectionPakistan2018 PLEASE GET OUT NOW AND VOTE!!!!!!!!!.”

Actor Vasay Chaudhry also took to Twitter and shared with his followers this message “A 14 hour flight to get to THIS.”

“All done voting! #elections #govotenow #pakistan #zoeviccaji #democracy #development #karachi,” Singer Zoe Viccaji tweeted.

Veteran actor Sameena Pirzada following the adage of a picture is worth a 1000 words shared a picture of her inked thumb.

“#AbSirfImranKhan InshaAllah – Guys get up now and go to your polling stations & make yourself count for the future of Pakistan !!! #PakistanElection2018 Hassan Sheheryar Voted. Pakistan Zindabad. If you haven’t already, please go out and cast your vote. Every vote matters,” actor Urwa Hocane tweeted.

Model and TV show host Juggun Kazim posted the following tweet, “I’ve voted!!! What about you? #pakistanzindabad #merapakistan #inkit #pleasevote.”

“Today i am no one but a Pakistani…who is going out to make a difference… yes every single vote counts…. may Allah be with Pakistan… our future depends upon today’s vote… good luck pti,” singer Rabi Pirzada tweeted.

The blockbuster ‘Teefa in Trouble’ star Ali Zafar perhaps thinking the rain would prevent people from coming to the polls shared this fun message with his followers, “Come let’s enjoy the voting in rain.”

Film and television actor, director, and producer Adnan Malik shared his entire voting experience and provided pointers, “My polling station for NA 247 and PS 111 was Hampton Grammar School in Clifton, Karachi. I was there by 8 am, the polling started at 8:15. It was minorly chaotic (as all starts in Pakistan are) but there were polling agents, supervisors, lots of rangers and a few of us early bird voters. It all went by relatively smoothly and felt pretty decently sorted out. I was out by 8:35. Remember to carry your silsila number and your block code on a separate sheet. You can’t register without these 2 pieces of information. To get this info. Message your ID card number to 8300. Vote intelligently and for those you believe can achieve desired results and are in line with your value system. Pakistan zindabad!”

“I have voted , have you ? #vote #VoteforPakistan #Election2018Pakistan #aijazaslam #voteforurself #VoteCasting #PakistanElection #pakistan #PakistanZindabad,” actor Aijaz Aslam tweeted.

Meanwhile, veteran actor Mahira Khan shared her regret for not being in Pakistan on the election day.

A lot of prominent names of Pakistani film industry would not be able to caste the vote as they are in Toronto and social media users are not happy with the situation.

In an Instagram post, Khan clarified that she tried but could not manage to arrive in for casting votes and she is regretting the moment.

“As much as I want to be there tomorrow, it is unfortunate that I can not be. There was absolutely no way to delay my work commitment which was scheduled months in advance, I tried my best. And so with a heavy heart, I will not be voting this year. I urge all of you to get out and vote!! May this year bring the change we all have been waiting to see. InshAllah. Pakistan zindabad!!!” she stated.

Previously, Pakistani singer, Farhan Saeed who has sung the anthem of PTI’s election campaign addressed his fellow celebs who have chosen to fly abroad for work or vacations during election time.

The ‘Sunou Chanda’ actor took to his Twitter account and tweeted, “All the people from my fraternity & otherwise traveling abroad at such a crucial time is so heart-breaking. Please let’s not take our country’s future for granted.”
