PPP-SB candidate Feroza Lashari, first woman in Sindh to contest election at such an early age

Published on: July 22, 2018 3:17 AM

JACOBABAD: A student of Master of Arts in English, Feroza Lashari, is the first woman in Sindh at such an early age to contest election for PS-02 constituency of Thul, a subdivision of Jacobabad, on a party ticket issued by Pakistan Peoples Party-Shaheed Bhutto (PPP-SB).

“If I get a job, then it would only benefit me, but I want to improve education and health facilities and shed poverty, unemployment and inferiority complex from the society,” she said. She criticised feudal system for enslaving the people of Sindh and killing women for honour.

“The critical issues of women have not been addressed or resolved, and they are confined within four walls of their homes for a long time,” she said adding that it is a sheer injustice as feudal lords and head of tribes had not faced any confrontation from them. She further said that she has been threatened by certain influential people in the region for contesting election against them. However, she expressed satisfaction that the general public of Sindh were well aware of the former government’s performance through electronic, print and social media, and they would not support corrupt candidates anymore.

“Voters have every right to ask about their respective performances in their constituencies,” she said adding that the residents of Thul were deprived of potable water, electricity and other fundamental facilities.

Lashari further said that she completed graduation under severe financial crisis as her father was a driver, and expressed her sympathy for the poor people of Thul.

She pledged to resolve core public issues after winning election. Feroza Lashari, daughter of Lal Muhammad Lashari, was born in the year 1992 at Allah Rakhio Muhalla of Thul, and joined PPP-SB in 2008.
