Published on: June 25, 2018 5:35 PM

MIANWALI: Election Tribunal cleared Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Monday to contest elections from NA-95 constituency (Mianwali).

Imran filed the petition against Returning Officer’s (RO) decision rejecting his nomination papers for failure to submit affidavit. However, during the hearing PTI chairman maintained that his nomination papers were rejected due to failure of submission of affidavit on Monday.

Meanwhile, the appellant Rawalpindi Election Tribunal adjourned the hearing over the appeal on rejection of nomination papers of  former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Sardar Mehtab Abbasi to contest election from NA-53 constituency.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani, during hearing, remarked that the  large number of nomination papers were rejected because the candidate provided incomplete information of his bank accounts and assets and inquired that if the candidates were unable to understand the questions asked in the nomination papers.
