ISLAMABAD: Accountability court on Friday resumed hearing of final arguments in Avenfield reference case for the fourth day.
During the hearing, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Deputy Prosecutor General in his concluding remarks claimed that former premier Nawaz Sharif had bought the Avenfield properties with embezzled money thus the ownership was transferred to his children.
NAB Prosecutor during the hearing, maintained the view that Nawaz himself had claimed in one of his speeches that property bought illegally is never put in the name of the one purchasing it.
He added, that Nawaz’s claims were presented in court as evidence by the prosecution to prove that public office holders do not maitain assets earned through embezzlement in their own name.
Prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi said that they had presented all documentary evidence confirming that Nawaz was the actual owner of London flats.
Furthermore, the prosecution stated that the accused had himself remarked during a public speech that a judicial commission be formed to probe into Sharif’s sources of income. He added that all of the accused had admitted to their ownership of the properties, yet their statements differed while detailing their sources of income through which the properties were purchased.
NAB official said that Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz had admitted claims of his ownership of the properties. He added that in 1993 Hussain had shifted to London flats while Hasan Nawaz moved there in 1994.
Former premier Nawaz Sharif reached the accountability court for the hearing early Friday morning.

Earlier, Nawaz along with daughter Maryam Nawaz had filed an exemption petition from June 11 to 15.
The petition along with Kalsoom Nawaz’s medical reports stated that the exemption was sought so that Nawaz can commute to London to visit his ailing wife.
Later on Thursday, accountability court rejected Nawaz and Maryam’s 5-day exemption petition to visit ailing wife and mother.
Earlier on Wednesday the prosecution had presented final arguments in Avenfield reference case. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi had remarked that the Sharif’s had failed to prove their income sources.
He had also accused Maryam Nawaz of concealing the facts and claimed that the accused were trying ti mislead the bureau.
NAB prosecutor had added that it was established that Nawaz Sharif was the actual owner of Gulf Steel Mills.
The Sharif family is charged for corruption and undergoing trial in National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) three supplementary reference cases of Avenfield properties, Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investments.
The Sharif’s are accused of money laundering, tax evasion and for non declaration of offshore assets.
