GOASA holds protest againt GSTA

Published on: May 16, 2018 2:10 AM

LARKANA: The Sindh Gazetted Officers Associations of School Administration (GOASA) on Tuesday threatened to seize the control of Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDO) if Government Secondary Teachers Association (GSTA) does not halt its misconduct and ‘unlawful’ acts.

Larkana GOASA vice-president Manzoor Ali Mangi presided over a meeting held at Government DC High School that alleged that GSTA leaders locked government offices ‘forcibly’ and expelled principals, headmasters and taluka education officers from their respective offices.

“It is not only illegal but immoral as well,” the meeting noted adding that office work has been interrupted and mismanagement arose.

The members revealed that they constantly informed higher authorities including provincial education secretary and Larkana director but to no avail.

They demanded protection and establishment of writ of the education officers which was also denied.

Consequently, the meeting threatened to withhold powers of DDO if their issues are not addressed instantly that would cause financial crisis as employees would be deprived of their monthly salaries.

They held Larkana district and divisional administration responsible for the crisis being built.

The District Education Officer Akhtar Hussain Kourejo, DDEOs including Abdul Wahid Memon, Syed Zamir Shah, Hakima Khuhro, Haseena Khuhro, Sanaullah Agani, Safdar Bhutto, Badar Samejo, Mujib Soomro, Shamsuddin Tagar and others also participated in the meeting.

Manzoor Mangi and Shamsuddin Tagar further alleged that a few days ago GSTA leaders restricted a headmaster Ashique Hussain to enter his office at Shaikh Zayed Colony High School.

“Primary teachers were appointed at taluka education offices while seniors were neglected,” they claimed that it is a sheer violation of apex court directives to establish merit-based system.

They pointed out that if such state of affairs is continued, there would be no room for improvement and implementing quality education in Sindh.
