Swedish DJ Avicii dead at 28, celebs pay tribute

Published on: April 21, 2018 5:35 PM

Avicii, one of the world’s most successful DJs who helped usher in the global boom in electronic music that swept over the past decade – all the way from nightclubs to Top 40 radio, left the world too soon at the age of 28, on Friday in Oman, according to his representative.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii,” said his management without specifying the cause of his death, or why he was in the Gulf sultanate’s capital, Muscat, in his last days.

While the 28-year-old Avicii’s cause of death is not confirmed as yet, tributes from several international and Indian film celebrities have started pouring in for the late music genius whose demise has left the global showbiz world in shock.

A young, talented, and passionate music artist, he shaped levels of sounds for the pop music industry.

Sonam Kapoor took to Twitter to say: “Listening to Avicii all morning. Music is something that gets us through everything good bad or ugly. And People who make it are truly blessed. He was a genius. RIP Avicii your music was uplifting and we will all feel your loss.”

Raghav shared these words of wisdom: “So easy to dismiss musical trends as disposable but the musicians at the top of them are almost always geniuses. Same was true for Avicii. So much more than a EDM guy he shaped sounds pop music will use for a generation or more and understood the value of the song itself. RIP.”
