TCKP, Frontier 4×4 Club hold jeep rally, water sports at Tanda Dam Kohat

PESHAWAR: To mark the Pakistan Day, the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) and Frontier 4×4 Club jointly organized jeep rally and water sports for the first time at Tanda Dam in Kohat.

Member Provincial Assembly Ziaullah Bangash as chief guest inaugurated the event. Secretary Sports, Tourism, Museums, Archaeology and Youth Affairs Muhammad Tariq, Deputy Commissioner Kohat Akmal Khan, Frontier 4×4 Club president Babar Khan and a large number of locals and tourists were present.

Rafting, kite flying, archery and rabab mangay music were other features to entertain the locals and tourists.

A large number of adventure loving spectators including children, youth, men and women from the far-off areas of Kohat and tourists from elsewhere had come to the scenic site and enjoyed the game of power and force of four wheelers and the valiant drivers.

They also enjoyed water sports, rafting, music and other segments of the Pakistan Day celebrations.

Hundred vehicles of Frontier 4×4 Club, four jeeps of Islamabad Jeep Club, three vehicles of Four Wheelers Club, 10 amateurs racers while vehicles of Chitral, Bahawalpur and Karachiclubs also participate in the race.

The online timing system was introduced for the first time in the race and a nine long rugged and rough track of stones and rocks had specified for the jeep racers.

Nasir Khan of Karachi Club, Babar Khan of the Frontier 4×4 Club and Asad Marwat of the Islamabad Club clinched first, second and third positions in the pre-period category race, respectively.

In the stock category race, Shakil Barqi, Iftikhar Zarin and Imran Fida of the Frontier 4×4 Club won first, second and third positions, respectively.

On the occasion, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Ziaullah Bangash said that the event was aimed at promoting tourism and sports at the hitherto neglected Kohat district.

He believed that the event had sent a positive message to the local people and domestic and foreign tourists that peace had been restored in the province.

Secretary Muhammad Tariq said the TCKP and Frontier 4×4 Club had organized the jeep rally and other segments for the first time in Kohatto commemorate Pakistan Day in a befitting manner. He said the event was arranged on this special holiday so more people could participate and enjoy the jeep rally and other segments.

DC Akmal Khan said that Tanda Dam was one of the beautiful sites of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the site hadvast potentials for tourism and other recreational activities.
