WHO warns DRAP about fake blood cancer medicines in Pakistan

The World Health Organization (WHO) has alerted the Drug and Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) about fake blood cancer medicines in the country.

According to the documents, the World Health Organization contacted the Drug Regulatory Authority and sent them fake samples of blood cancer medical products. Later, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) issued rapid alerts of fake medicines. The WHO has declared Jakavi tablets and Darzalex injections to be counterfeit. The sale and use of affected batches of Darzalex injections and Jakavi tablets are banned. Darzalex injections and Jakavi tablets are medications used to treat blood cancer.

DRAP stated Darzalex injection 400 mg (Batch STV1K01) is counterfeit. Darzalex Injection 100 mg (Batch MYS7381) is counterfeit. Counterfeit batches of Darzalex Injection have been traced to the Maldives and Mexico. The address of Janssen-Cilag Belgium is listed on the counterfeit Dursalix injection packet.

Johnson & Kellogg International has declared the affected batches of Darzalex counterfeit. Batch FNR06 of Jakavi 15mg tablets is counterfeit. Islamabad: Batch SGL04 of Jakavi 10mg tablets is counterfeit. The address of Novartis Pharma Switzerland is listed on the counterfeit Jakavi tablet packaging. Novartis Switzerland has declared the affected batches of Jakavi to be counterfeit.
