The damaged down railway track near Wahab Shah Railway Station, close to Odero Lal Railway Station, was restored after 24 hours, allowing several passenger trains, including Fareed Express, Rehman Baba Express and Zakaria Express, to resume their journeys.
Railway traffic had been suspended after a coal-carrying freight train travelling from Karachi to Punjab derailed near Wahab Shah Railway Station on the previous day, severely affecting both up and down tracks.
Railway officials said that repair work on the down track had been completed and passenger train operations were gradually being restored. However, restoration work on the up track was still in progress.
Officials added that the complete rehabilitation of the up track might take some more time, as railway teams were continuing repair work at the site.
