Argentina

Defending champions Argentina secured their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final after defeating England 2-1 in an exciting semifinal played in Atlanta. The victory sets up a highly anticipated final after Argentina produced a late comeback to keep their title defense alive.

England took the lead in the 55th minute when Gordon found the back of the net, giving his team a 1-0 advantage. The English side looked in control for much of the second half before Argentina responded.

Argentina equalized in the 85th minute through Fernández, bringing the score to 1-1 and shifting the momentum in their favor. The late goal gave the defending champions renewed confidence as the match entered its closing stages.

Martínez then scored Argentina’s winning goal to make it 2-1, completing a dramatic comeback and sealing their place in the tournament’s final. The result ended England’s hopes of reaching the championship match.

Spain had already qualified for the final after defeating France in the other semifinal. The FIFA World Cup 2026 Final will now feature Spain and Argentina in a clash between two of international football’s strongest teams.
