Field Marshal Asim Munir begins strategic Turkiye defence visit

Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir arrived in Turkiye on a two-day official visit on Monday. He will meet Turkiye’s military and political leadership to discuss matters of mutual interest and defence cooperation. The visit reinforces strategic ties between Pakistan and Turkiye while supporting regional security cooperation.

According to state media, Field Marshal Munir received a warm welcome upon his arrival in Turkiye. During the visit, he will hold high-level meetings with military commanders and political leaders. The discussions will focus on defence collaboration, regional developments, and expanding cooperation between both countries. Officials expect the engagements to strengthen long-standing strategic relations.

The visit follows recent high-level military exchanges between Pakistan and Turkiye. Last month, Turkish Land Forces Commander General Metin Tokel visited Pakistan for official meetings. He met Field Marshal Munir at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. Both sides reviewed regional security challenges and explored opportunities to enhance bilateral defence cooperation.

Furthermore, Field Marshal Munir highlighted the deep historical, cultural, and strategic relationship between Pakistan and Turkiye. He appreciated the growing collaboration between the armed forces of both countries. Meanwhile, General Tokel also met Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu in Islamabad. Their discussions focused on strengthening military cooperation and institutional partnerships between the two air forces.

General Tokel praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces during his Pakistan visit. He also acknowledged their contributions to regional peace and stability. Additionally, he expressed commitment to expanding defence ties through continued cooperation and regular military engagement. The latest visit reflects both countries’ shared commitment to closer strategic and security relations.
