Punjab speeds up projects in 52 cities

Published on: July 11, 2026 9:18 PM

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari on Saturday said development projects are progressing rapidly in 52 cities across the province under the Punjab Development Plan. She said the provincial government is prioritising infrastructure upgrades and ensuring drainage and sewerage schemes are completed before the monsoon season. The initiatives aim to improve public services and reduce urban flooding risks.

In a statement, Bukhari said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed authorities to accelerate development, beautification, and public welfare projects throughout Punjab. She added that water supply, sewerage, and drainage schemes are being completed on a priority basis to minimise disruption during the rainy season. Relevant departments have also been instructed to finish projects on schedule and avoid leaving excavation sites open.

She noted that beautification projects have been completed in cities including Mandi Bahauddin, Sambrial, Chiniot, Rahim Yar Khan, Okara, Sargodha, Attock, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Shakargarh, and Khushab.
