Dune Part Three trailer unveils emotional twist for Paul

Published on: July 9, 2026 4:32 PM

The first trailer for Dune: Part Three has officially arrived, offering fans an exciting look at the next chapter of the acclaimed science fiction series. Alongside breathtaking action and massive sandworms, the preview introduces an emotional twist as Paul Atreides and Chani prepare to become parents, adding a deeply personal layer to the story.

Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya return to lead the highly anticipated film directed by Denis Villeneuve. Set nearly 20 years after Paul claimed the Imperial throne, the story follows a ruler struggling to protect the empire he created while facing growing unrest, betrayal and difficult choices. Consequently, the trailer suggests that his greatest challenge may come from within his own rule.

The footage also highlights Paul’s disturbing visions of destruction as a dangerous conspiracy surrounding Chani begins to unfold. Moreover, the trailer indicates that family, sacrifice and survival will play central roles, blending emotional storytelling with the franchise’s signature large-scale action and spectacular visual effects. The new direction promises a more personal conclusion to the epic saga.

Several familiar faces return alongside the lead cast, including Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach de Bankolé, Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson and Javier Bardem. Their return signals new alliances, shifting loyalties and major conflicts as the battle for Arrakis enters its final stage.

The trailer suggests that the film will explore the consequences of power rather than the struggle to obtain it, raising new questions about leadership and responsibility. Dune: Part Three is scheduled to arrive in theatres and IMAX on December 18, with early footage indicating an emotional and action-packed finale that could become the franchise’s most ambitious chapter.
