Qatar PM hails memorandum progress

Published on: June 22, 2026 11:57 PM

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman has said that the memorandum of understanding signed between parties has created a clear path toward ending the war. The statement is significant as diplomatic efforts continue to build momentum for broader regional peace talks.

Speaking to Arab media, he said the initial agreement reflects strong diplomatic efforts by Pakistan and its partners. He added that coordinated international engagement helped create a conducive environment for negotiations. His remarks highlight Qatar’s central mediating role in ongoing discussions.

The Qatari premier said the main objective of the memorandum is to pave the way for ending hostilities and establishing a framework for future dialogue. He stressed that the agreement serves as a foundation for continued diplomatic engagement. According to him, it marks an important step toward de-escalation.

He further noted that Pakistan played a key role in building regional and global support for the talks. He said Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts helped bring relevant stakeholders together. This cooperation, he added, was crucial for sustaining momentum in the negotiation process.

The Qatari leader also said future talks would address major regional issues, including Iran’s nuclear programme, the Strait of Hormuz, and broader security concerns. He emphasized that sustained dialogue remains essential for long-term stability in the region.
