Sundar open manhole tragedy

A tragic incident occurred in Lahore’s Sundar area where a five-year-old boy lost his life after falling into an open manhole outside his home. The Sundar open manhole tragedy has raised concerns about public safety and the condition of drainage infrastructure in residential neighborhoods.

According to local residents, the child accidentally fell into the uncovered manhole while playing near his house. Neighbors launched efforts on their own to locate and rescue the boy after the incident.

Residents said the child was eventually recovered from a sewer line nearly 300 feet away from the location where he had fallen. He was immediately taken to a hospital, but sadly died on the way due to the severity of the incident.

Following the tragedy, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took notice of the incident and sought a report from the relevant authorities. Officials have been directed to investigate the circumstances that led to the accident.

The chief minister also expressed sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family. The Sundar open manhole tragedy has once again highlighted the need for proper maintenance and safety measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.
