Jamiat Ullema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) has tightened its belts to ensure the holding of local government elections in Khyber Pakthunkhwa.

A special meeting of the JUI(F) high level committee was held on Sunday in which former Governor KP, Haji Ghulam Ali, Maulana Miskin Shah and Ahmed Ali Darvesh, along with other committee members discussed future plan of action of the party.

According to press release issued here, all aspects were considered and decisions taken in this regard to thwart the provincial government’s delaying tactics with full political and democratic force.

The meeting convened at Mufti Mahmood Markaz Peshawar took a detailed look at the problems of the people due to the continuous delay and frivolous attitude of the provincial government in holding local government elections and important decisions will be taken while considering the future course of action in this regard.

Former Governor KP and Senior leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Haji Ghulam Ali and Ameer of Peshawar district Maulana Miskin Shah says that local government institutions play a fundamental role in solving public problems, ensuring development at the grassroots level and strengthening the democratic system.

Timely holding of local government elections and the powers vested in them are not only in accordance with the requirements of the Constitution of Pakistan, but the Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued direction in this regard.

The meeting also considered various suggestions and recommendations for the restoration of the local government system, strengthening public representation and making local governments active.
