Speaking during a recent appearance on a private television programme, the senior actress shared her views on a range of social issues, including Pakistan’s population growth and its impact on economic and social development.

During the discussion, Bushra Ansari said population growth is an issue she frequently speaks about and believes deserves greater public attention. She remarked that increasing population levels could place additional pressure on families and national resources if not addressed through awareness and planning.

The actress recalled that in previous decades, public awareness campaigns promoting family planning were more visible. Referring to the well-known “Waqfa Do” campaign, she noted that such messages were once displayed prominently in public spaces but are no longer as common as they used to be.

Bushra Ansari acknowledged the belief that sustenance is ultimately provided by God, but added that people are also expected to make thoughtful and responsible choices. She argued that parents should carefully consider their ability to provide education, healthcare, and other necessities before expanding their families.

Highlighting the challenges faced by many households, she said large family sizes can sometimes increase financial and social pressures. According to the actress, ensuring a better quality of life for children requires planning and adequate resources.

Her comments have sparked discussion on social media, where users expressed varying opinions on population management, family planning policies, and the broader economic challenges facing the country.

Population growth has long been a subject of debate in Pakistan, with experts often linking it to issues such as poverty, access to education, healthcare services, employment opportunities, and urban infrastructure. Policymakers and development specialists have frequently emphasized the need for public awareness and improved access to family planning services as part of broader efforts to support sustainable development.
