Shehbaz to visit China on May 23

Published on: May 9, 2026 6:00 PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit China from May 23 to May 25 for high-level official meetings. During the visit, he will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. The trip is expected to strengthen bilateral ties, economic cooperation, and regional connectivity between both countries.

Officials said Shehbaz Sharif will also attend ceremonies marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. The events will highlight the long-standing partnership and strategic cooperation between the two nations. Both sides are expected to discuss ways to expand collaboration in multiple sectors.

The visit will include detailed discussions on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and ongoing development projects. Trade, investment, energy, and infrastructure cooperation will also remain key areas of focus. Furthermore, leaders from both countries are expected to exchange views on regional and international developments.

Sources said several agreements and memorandums of understanding could be signed during the visit. These agreements may focus on economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and strengthening bilateral partnerships. Pakistan is also expected to seek greater Chinese investment in key sectors of the economy.
