Published on: May 7, 2026 10:15 PM

Pakistan will begin their two-match Test series against Bangladesh from Friday in Dhaka as both teams look to strengthen their positions in the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle. The first Test will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium from May 8 to 12, marking an important contest for both sides. Pakistan aim to continue their strong historical record against Bangladesh in Test cricket.

The second Test of the series will be held in Sylhet from May 16 to 20, completing the bilateral contest. Pakistan currently sit fifth in the World Test Championship standings after their recent home series against South Africa. Bangladesh are placed eighth following their earlier series defeat against Sri Lanka. Both teams are seeking crucial points to improve their rankings.

Pakistan captain Shan Masood said his team is fully prepared for the challenge of playing in local conditions. He acknowledged Bangladesh as a competitive side with strength in all departments. He added that Pakistan have selected a balanced squad capable of adapting to different pitch conditions. Masood emphasized that taking 20 wickets remains key to success in Test cricket.

The Pakistan squad includes experienced players such as Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. The team also features a mix of pace and spin options to handle varying conditions in Bangladesh. Coaching staff led by Sarfaraz Ahmed aims to build a positive and competitive environment for the series. Pakistan last toured Bangladesh in 2021, winning the series 2-0.
