Govt to take farmers onboard for proposed agriculture bill

An important meeting of the Sindh cabinet’s sub?committee regarding Sindh Farmers Agricultural Collectives Act 2026 was held. The meeting was chaired by Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar. Committee members including Law Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro, and Minister for Prisons Ali Hassan Zardari attended. Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Rajveer Singh Sodha, Agriculture Secretary Muhammad Zaman Narejo, Deputy Secretary Khadim Hussain Buriro, and other officials were also present. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the legal and technical aspects of the proposed Act, as well as on issues related to farmers’ organization and the improvement of the rural economy. Agriculture Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar directed that before presenting the Act to the Sindh Cabinet, consultations and suggestions should be obtained from farmers’ representatives. He stated that after consultation with farmers, the proposed Act will be presented to the Cabinet. Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro said that the purpose of this Act is to encourage farmers to work together through mutual cooperation so that their production can increase. According to the provincial ministers, this initiative will promote prosperity in rural areas.
