Zardari arrives in Sanya, meets Chinese leaders

President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Sanya, China after completing his Hunan province visit. The trip highlights continued high-level Pakistan-China diplomatic engagement. It also reflects efforts to strengthen economic, strategic, and defense cooperation between the two countries. His visit includes key meetings and an important naval ceremony in Sanya.

Upon arrival, Zardari was received by Wang Jiang, Secretary of the Communist Party of China in Hainan. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong and Consul General Sardar Muhammad also attended the reception. The warm welcome demonstrated strong diplomatic coordination. It also underscored the importance of bilateral relations.

Sanya holds strategic value as a global tourism hub and a key part of the Hainan Free Trade Port. Therefore, it plays a major role in China’s economic development framework. The visit reflects Pakistan’s interest in expanding cooperation in trade and investment. It further strengthens long-term regional economic ties.

During the visit, President Zardari will hold discussions with provincial leadership on economic and strategic cooperation. Talks will focus on trade expansion, investment opportunities, and CPEC-related projects. In addition, both sides aim to enhance practical collaboration across multiple sectors. These engagements are expected to deepen bilateral relations further.

Meanwhile, the President will attend the commissioning ceremony of the Pakistan Navy submarine “Hangor” in Sanya. The event highlights growing defense cooperation between Pakistan and China. It also symbolizes shared strategic interests in maritime security. The visit overall reinforces continued high-level engagement between the two countries.
