PIEAS alumnus Sualeh Asif all set for $60bn deal with Musk’s SpaceX

An alumnus of the STEM Careers Programme, a joint initiative of PIEAS (administered by the Atomic Energy Commission of Pakistan) and the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Sualeh Asif is making global headlines as his co-founded AI startup Cursor moves toward a potential $60 billion acquisition deal with SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk.

The Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) was founded in 1967 as Reactor School with the sponsorship of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC).

Sualeh Asif has proven to be an exceptional alumnus of the STEM Careers Program, a joint venture of PIEAS and the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan.His co-founded startup, Cursor AI, is set for a $60 billion acquisition deal with Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

He represented the Pakistan team at the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) on multiple occasions and won a bronze medal for Pakistan in 2017. His stellar performance and participation in the IMO didn’t just earn him accolades, but they also paved the way for his admission into MIT.

According to reports, SpaceX has secured the right to acquire Cursor later this year, while an alternative arrangement may include a $10 billion payment for collaborative projects if the acquisition does not proceed. The proposed partnership aims to integrate Cursor’s AI coding capabilities with SpaceX’s advanced computing systems.

The company is reportedly generating over $1 billion in annualised revenue and serves millions of developers worldwide, positioning it among the fastest-growing AI startups globally.
