Punjab Assembly backs Nobel Peace call for PM, CDF Munir

The Punjab Assembly has unanimously adopted a resolution recommending the Nobel Peace Prize for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir. The resolution credits their role in promoting peace efforts amid rising tensions in the Middle East. It reflects political endorsement of Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement on the global stage.

The resolution was presented by Punjab Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman during a session in Lahore. It praised Pakistan’s leadership for what it described as an effective diplomatic role in supporting ceasefire efforts between the United States and Iran. Lawmakers said the initiative helped reduce regional tensions.

It also acknowledged senior political figures, including Nawaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and other stakeholders. The document stated that coordinated leadership helped Pakistan navigate complex international challenges. It added that these efforts improved the country’s diplomatic standing.

The resolution highlighted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership and Ishaq Dar’s diplomatic engagement in presenting Pakistan’s position internationally. It also praised Field Marshal Asim Munir’s military leadership, describing it as professional and decisive in supporting peace efforts. Lawmakers said these contributions helped prevent escalation of conflict.

The House also noted the role of international actors in encouraging dialogue and restraint during tensions. It reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, development, and regional stability. The resolution concluded by urging continued diplomatic efforts to sustain long-term stability in the region.
