The government has accelerated the repatriation process of undocumented Afghan nationals across the country following the reopening of transit routes.
According to official sources on Tuesday, authorities have resumed steps to send back Afghan migrants residing illegally in Pakistan.
In a significant development, officials have decided to immediately deport 318 Afghan nationals currently imprisoned in Peshawar Central Jail under the Foreign Act. Preparations for their deportation have reportedly been completed and their journey to their homeland is expected shortly.
Law enforcement agencies in Peshawar have intensified operations against undocumented foreign residents. Police are conducting door-to-door searches to identify individuals living without legal documentation. Those found in violation are being arrested and cases are being registered against them under Section 14 of the Foreign Act.
The decision was finalized during a meeting chaired by Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Mehsud, where authorities reviewed the situation and agreed on immediate deportation of Afghan prisoners held under immigration violations.
Officials emphasized that the crackdown is part of the federal government’s broader policy to expel all undocumented foreigners from Pakistan. The process includes strict monitoring, arrests, and legal action against those without valid residency status.
Meanwhile, several Afghan nationals have approached the Peshawar High Court seeking relief from deportation. Some petitioners argued that they are married to Pakistani citizens and requested exemption from expulsion on humanitarian grounds. The court has already addressed multiple such cases.
The renewed deportation drive signals a firm stance by authorities to enforce immigration laws and regulate the presence of undocumented foreign nationals in the country.
