Bangladesh pace sensation Nahid Rana took his first five-wicket haul in one-day internationals to guide Bangladesh to an eight-wicket win over Pakistan on Wednesday. Pakistan were bowled out for 114 in the series opener at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
Rana’s exceptional figures of 5-24 dismantled Pakistan’s top order, becoming the first Bangladeshi bowler to dismiss the opposition’s top five batters in an ODI innings. He removed Sahibzada Farhan (27), Shamyl Hussain (4), Maaz Sadaqat (18), Mohammad Rizwan (10), and Salman Agha (5).

Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz contributed with the ball, taking 3-29, while Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman added one wicket each. Faheem Ashraf’s 37 was the only notable resistance from Pakistan.

The victory marks a breakthrough in Rana’s young ODI career since his 2024 debut. He is now only the second Bangladeshi bowler to take a five-wicket haul against Pakistan in ODIs, after Mustafizur Rahman’s 5-75 in the 2019 World Cup.
