New Zealand beats South Africa, enters T20 final

In the first ICC T20 World Cup semifinal, New Zealand defeated South Africa by nine wickets to reach the final. The victory secured New Zealand’s spot in the championship clash, setting up a highly anticipated showdown with the winner of India and England’s semifinal. Fans in Kolkata witnessed a dominant performance from the Kiwi side as they chased a modest target with ease.

New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and elected to field first, restricting South Africa to 169 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. South African opener Marco Jansen remained unbeaten on 55, while other notable contributions came from Dewald Brevis (34) and Stokes (29).

For New Zealand, bowlers Matt Henry, Trent McConchie, and Rachin Ravindra took two wickets each, ensuring South Africa fell short of the target. The disciplined bowling performance kept South Africa under constant pressure throughout their innings.

Chasing 170, New Zealand reached the target in just 12.5 overs. Tim Seifert scored 58 runs, while Finn Allen hit a century and remained not out, guiding his team to a comfortable win.
